CHR Advocates for Funding to Invest in Non-Profits
CHR’s President and CEO, Heather Gates, along with Recovery Support Specialist. Scott Shepard, RSS, participated in a news conference on April 28 organized by the CT Nonprofit Alliance to advocate for increased state funding for mental health and addiction services and other non-profit programs.
Gates thanked the Appropriations Committee for passing a budget that includes a significant investment in Connecticut’s non-profits, like CHR, which have been underfunded for the last decade.
“With this funding, we can restore clinical positions, expand access to same-day care for opioid addictions and continue to provide life-saving services to meet the tremendous needs facing our communities now,” Gates said.
“CHR and these agencies work toward this person-centered training every day, especially during these undue times and with the help these funds can provide, I think those who work in the mental health, addiction, and peer-related services can continue to provide the great work they unquestionably continue to do every day,” Shepard added.
