West Hartford Resident and Founder & Partner of Riverside Retirement Advisors, LLC, to Lead Board for Nonprofit Behavioral Healthcare Agency

Cy Hess, CFA, Founder and Partner of Riverside Retirement Advisors, LLC, is the new Chair of the Board of Directors for Community Health Resources (CHR), the state’s most comprehensive nonprofit behavioral healthcare agency. Hess succeeds Michael Kearney, of The Hartford, who is now the Past-Chair and will remain on the Board’s Executive Committee.

“We are delighted to welcome Cy to his new role as Board Chair,” said Heather Gates, President and CEO of CHR. “Cy has been an active Board member since 2016, serving on the Finance Committee and chairing our Golf Committee, and brings a wealth of experience in the business sector to the Board,” she said.

“We also remain extremely grateful to Past Chair Michael Kearney for his continued leadership and his unwavering support during the pandemic,” Gates added. “Going forward, this continues to be a time of growth and innovation for CHR as we meet the significant mental health and substance use needs among people of all ages.”

Hess, of West Hartford, has spent his entire career in the retirement industry. Through his role at Riverside Retirement Advisors, he helps executives navigate their fiduciary obligations, translates complicated financial concepts into easy-to-understand action items for employees, and turns retirement plans into powerful, relevant employee benefits.

He received a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Business Administration from UConn. Prior to starting his own retirement-plan advisory practice, he worked with retirement plan clients for UBS, The Hartford, and Prudential. Hess earned the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst designation, is an Accredited Investment Fiduciary and is a member of the Hartford CFA Society.

Along with Hess and Kearney, CHR Board leaders include: Vice Chair Eduardo Miranda, Deputy Director of Finance for the Danbury Public Schools; Treasurer Ayesha Clarke, Interim Executive Director of Health Equity Solutions; and Secretary Miranda Muro, Senior Director of Network Relations for Connecticut Food Share.

About CHR:  CHR is Connecticut’s most comprehensive, nonprofit behavioral healthcare agency, offering a broad range of services for children, families and adults whose lives have been touched by mental illness, addiction, trauma, homelessness and more. In addition, CHR was the first nonprofit agency in CT to meet all of the rigorous federal criteria as a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic and has repeatedly been named among the Top Workplaces in the state.
