CHR recently participated in a training organized by LifeSet Youth Villages to help young adults who have benefitted from a DCF-funded program, Transitional Support for Emerging Adults (TSEA), learn how to share their voice in advocacy efforts.
TSEA is a successful, evidence-based model that has helped more than 240 young adults since 2019, through programs run by CHR and Wheeler Clinic. Thank you to CHR’s Zero Suicide Committee for organizing a candid and thought-provoking discussion about suicide prevention. “Why We Didn’t Tell You: Learning from Lived Experience of Those with Suicidal Thoughts,” was led by three individuals with lived experience in an effort to help reduce the stigma of suicide by encouraging frank and open dialogue. Presenters included Grace Grinnell, RSS; Valerie Lepourte, RSS; and Steve MacHattie, LCSW, RPT of the Vital Connections Project, who shared crucial insights with the CHR community.
