Everything You Need To Know About The 2022 Fiat 500X
[BACK]
Posted On: November 22, 2021
The Fiat 500X is not a car that has been much of a hit around the CarBuzz office. Every year, we review the latest model, and every year, the Italian retro crossover lets us down in some way. It's not entirely unlovable, but it certainly isn't anybody's first choice either. Could that change for the 2022 model year? Well, Stellantis has just revealed what the latest version is offering, and although we see some new options and aesthetic upgrades, it seems that we're getting pretty much the same car as before. For some, that's just fine. For others, that will be a disappointment. If you fall into the latter camp, perhaps you'd be more entertained by the reveal of an altogether different Italian. For everyone else, keep reading. For 2022, the 500X is now offered with an al-fresco folding fabric top. This can be specced on all 500X variants and in four colors: black, red, gray, and blue. The latter is exclusive to the Yacht Club Capri, which follows on from a special edition we first saw back in July called the 500X Yachting. The Yacht Club Capri is based on the Sport trim and boasts Venezia blue paint, 18-inch sport wheels, ivory leather seats with blue piping, a unique woodgrain dash insert, a satin gear-lever, and exclusive badging and exterior trim. As a Sport model, the exterior moldings are body-colored and both front and rear fascias are unique. You also get a flat-bottomed steering wheel, Alcantara trimmings, and special seats. For those not interested in the Sport model, Pop, Trekking, and Trekking Plus variants are available. Paint options for 2022 include Bianco Gelato, Italia Blue, Blu Venzia, Vibrante Green Metallic, Grigio Moda, Nero Cinema, Amore Red, Rosso Passione, and Rovente Red. Inside, you can choose from Black cloth, Black premium cloth with premium leather, Avorio (Ivory) premium cloth, or Avorio premium leather.rnAll models come with a 1.3-liter turbo engine producing 177 horsepower and 210 lb-ft of torque and promising up to 30 mpg. As for 17-, 18-, and 19-inch wheels are on offer, as is all-wheel drive. It seems, then, that the 2022 500X is more of the same as always, but we remain hopeful that Fiat will redesign the vehicle from front to back soon.
