Regarding flood zone rates on the flood map, areas A and V are high-risk. While B, C and X flood areas have a low to moderate flood risk. For A and V areas, annual flood rates can average around $900. The low to moderate areas will pay about $500 a year. The NFIP does offer more affordable rates than private insurance. However, you may not get the coverage you need.
