My Washing Machine is Dirty
Is your washing machine not cleaning clothes as it used to? Are you starting to notice an odor each time you open the door? If you answered yes, then it's time to clean your washing machine. Some washing machines come with a self-clean cycle. However, there is another way that you can use to ensure a better clean of your washing machine.
- Run a hot cycle with vinegar:Vinegar is one of nature's miracles. It acts as a natural deodorizer, making it the perfect cleaner for your washing machine. All you have to do is run a hot cycle and add the vinegar to the detergent dispenser. The combination of hot water and vinegar will help eliminate any bacteria, mold, and mildew.
- Handwash the machine:Using a solution of water and vinegar, scrub the inside and outside with a sponge and a toothbrush. Wash everything, including the soap dispenser (for machines that have them) and for front loaders. Make sure to clean the door and the seal as water builds around it causing most of the smells and build-up of bacteria.
- Run another hot cycle:Run another hot cycle with just water to eliminate any leftover vinegar from the previous steps.
It's recommended that you give your washing machine a light washing every month and a full clean at least once a year. Depending on how often you use it. Regular cleaning will help ensure you get clean clothes every time and preserve the life of your machine.
