simplify evaporator drain
My evaporator coil/air handler is located under my house. The drain line comes out and immediately goes 90 elbow, then a trap, then another 90 elbow before straight about 10 feet to the outside wall where it drains outside. There is a clean out T but I find it gets clogged before the clean out where the 90s and trap are located. What's the best way to redo this to make it easier to clean/drain? Is the trap even necessary?
Question from user mesa_back at hvacadvice at reddit.com.
Answer:
That's not a clean out, that's a vent. It just might need cleaning out. Looks damp down there and you have no safety switch to shut unit off on secondary drain so most likely leaking into your crawl space.
