Could opening more registers or removing the register filters help solve this issue? The builders used the floor registers as a trash can for sweeping away debris, so I had put filters to try to keep the air cleaner for my family.

We also closed some registers (as directed on the main unit's instructions) to help push the cool air to the top floor (upstairs is always hot, anyway, and the first floor is cold).
