Question from user Winter_Wookie at hvacadvice at reddit.com.
Answer:
Adjusting the gas valve didnt work because you fail to understand why its failing. Its not carrying the flame over. You need to clean out the entire unit with compressed air to get the dust out of the flame carriers.

I'm using the same filter size the previous resident did, but it looks too small, like air could blow around it? Is this normal? Thanks.
Question from user ronthom at hvacadvice at reddit.com.
Answer:
Look up actual dimensions of the Honeywell filter number. Its actually 15-7 8 that ones only 15.4 buy the right filter and youll be fine. Theyre not cheap though.

If you haven’t used your furnace in quite some time, it may be possible your furnace might be a little rusty and may not run the same way it did last year. When something has been sitting dormant for a while, certain features tend to tense up and break more easily. Do you remember the last time you cleaned your furnace?

Wanting to install an April Aire 700 humidifier. I’ve done them myself in my last couple houses, but I can’t figure out where I’d mount it as there just doesn’t appear to be anywhere above the coil it would fit.
Question from user RR50 at hvacadvice at reddit.com.
Answer:
Do an April Aire 800 on the RA duct.

Posted On: February 10, 2023
Question from user rbfking at hvacadvice at reddit.com.
Answer:
Do you have a multi-meter? Is there 24 to 28vac between the W and R terminals. If not, then you need to see if the furnace has 24vac at the R and C terminals. If it doesnt the furnace may not have power, or the transformer making the 24vac power may have failed.
A standing pilot can stay lit while the furnace loses power. Once the pilot light heats the thermopile, it will keep the pilot valve open indefinitely.

Hey all, I have a furnace and radiant baseboard heating. So my thermostat it uses the typical 3 wire configuration.
If I am understanding correctly I can repurpose the green wire as a c wire, however i would lose independent fan control.
But correct me if I am wrong, this wouldn’t have any impact since it’s radiant baseboard heat any not forced hot air.
Thanks!.

Can someone please give me some advice. Blower motor broke, part was ordered from manufacturer and installed today. It sounds loud with a kind of deep undertone (I thought at first that machinery was running outside my home). Not so. When it cuts off it makes a noise as the fan winds down. None of this was present before the motor broke. Can you take a listen … this sound isn’t normal. If the blower is the right one for my Carrier model, it should sound the same, right?

I am getting a new Air source to Air Heat Pump (obviously with R410A). The tree huggers and liberals are at it once more and want to replace R410A with something like supercritical CO2 (I think in moon country they call it EcoCute or HelloKitty or something equally pervy and use it in water heaters). .
So my question is, if they needed to charge my heat pump again in say 8-9 years due to leaked refrigerant or some other issue, it will cost massively. Will it make sense to buy and store few cans of R410A while it is still cheap?
